We are pleased to announce the second Dene Migration Symposium. Elder Bruce Starlight (Tsuut’ina Nation) and linguist Sally Rice (University of Alberta) are co-organizing this gathering on 8-9 September 2017, at the Tsuut’ina Nation, a Dene community located near Calgary, Alberta, Canada. The purpose of the symposium is to facilitate a gathering of Dene people from across North America and a number of scholars all sharing an interest in how sub-arctic, coastal, and high desert Dene peoples came to reside in such a vast and widely distributed area of western North America, far beyond the Dene homeland, presumed to be somewhere near present-day southern Yukon.
